What is Permanent Makeup?

Permanent makeup is the art of implanting color into the skin. The technician applies the right color in the right place so you can look better naturally. Specialized instruments allow the trained technician to place color into the layer of the skin called the dermis. Since the outermost layer of skin, the epidermis, sheds and renews itself, the color will initially appear darker after the procedure. The color in the top layer will flake off during the healing process, lightening the final results. At Angelbare, each technician is educated in facial characteristics, structure, and anatomy.

Four Important Things to Know About Permanent Makeup

1. How Experienced is Your Technician?
The fact that your technician has been practicing permanent makeup for a year or two may not be sufficient if the technician only performs one procedure a month. Many technicians perform other services, and rarely perform permanent makeup. It is important for you to know that your technician has performed the permanent makeup procedure frequently. Ask to see pictures of actual clients and get references.

2. Does Your Technician Comply with OSHA Safety Standards?
Your technician’s procedure area should rival any doctor’s or dentist’s office. Permanent makeup procedures performed in a hair or nail salon, place you at a higher risk of infection from airborne pollutants, such as those from acrylic nail dust.

The technician must use disposable supplies that are individually packaged and opened in front of you immediately before the procedure. Your technician should have on display a current certificate showing compliance with the local Health Department.

3. Is Your Technician Able to Provide a List of Ingredients Being Used?
Allergic reactions are extremely rare, however they do occur.

4. Do You Understand the True “Cost” of Permanent Makeup?
Ask yourself how much is your facial beauty worth? You should understand that Permanent Makeup is an invasive procedure more akin to a minor procedure that you might receive in a doctor’s office, such as Botox injections.

Nearly one-quarter of Angelbare’s services is corrective cosmetics work, repairing dissatisfactory permanent makeup work. Your facial beauty is far too important, and therefore should not be a decision solely based on cost. Account for the ultimate cost that may result from having to repair a bad permanent cosmetic job.
